OK, I realize that this is just 4th grade basketball and I/we shouldn't get too worked up about it, but if this game didn't get you excited - you don't have a pulse! A 3 point shot to win the game is very rare in the NBA, extremely rare in college and high school basketball but in 4th grade basketball it just shouldn't happen..but it did! With only 3 seconds on the clock Adam brings it across half court, gets to the three point line, sends it up, buzzer sounds, ball drops in for a 25-24 win and the crowd goes crazy! Awesome, this is why we play sports! What a great win.
The boys faced a ton of adversity in this game. After Jack fouled out early in the second half, Ben, Alex and Max stepped up huge when we really needed them down the stretch. Once again, I think Terrace Park knew our plays better than we did. These guys really have our number and are out to get us. I think our coach (that would be me) better come up with something new if we face them again! Very proud all all the boys!

Adam led all scorers with 13 points including the big 3. He also added 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Jack added 6 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in limited action. Very proud of him for battling on a tough day inside when the calls just weren't going his way. Max continued his good play with 2 points and 9 big rebounds. Patrick chipped in with 4 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Alex had 4 rebounds and Ben also had 4 boards with a couple big ones in crunch time. Carson and Elliott played great defense with Carson tying for the team lead with 2 steals.
Awesome game! We thought when they hit the basket to go 4 points ahead it was a dagger to the Mustangs. Who would have thought the boys would have pulled that off. Fourth grade basketball was never so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI think the TP team is working very hard to defeat our Mustangs. The coach from the other TP team (the one that beat us) was there on the stage watching. You may be right about us needing to mix it up a bit and baffle them at tournament time.
